We suggest taking time now to do a quick inventory of the unit. Check furnishings for anything missing, damaged, or needing repairs or cleaning. Go through the kitchen and look for broken dishes, glassware or serving pieces or missing flatware and utensils. Are small appliances in good condition? Are you stocked with paper products, dish soap, trash bin liners, coffee and filters? Is the refrigerator clean?
Then go through each bedroom and bath and check your bedding and towels. Do you have complete sets of sheets, extra blankets and an extra set ready to go? Are towels fluffy and not stained? Are the shower curtain and liner, if you have them, fresh and clean? If you have glass showers, are they free of spots and stains? Do you have tissue, amenities and waste cans with extra liners? Are the duvet covers clean and appealing or could they use a refresh?
Don’t forget to check your patio or deck and make sure patio furniture is clean, in good repair and inviting. If you provide pool towels, take a count and replace dingy or missing ones.
It’s also time to check and update your house rules, local tourist information and check-out instructions and weed out dated magazines or flyers.
Keep in mind that renters select rentals based on photos. Dark, dated and unkempt rentals will not attract the highest price or best-quality renters.
